North Shore  (N/A)

Hello

I'm planning on making a trout fishing trip to either the north shore or southeast but I'm having trouble deciding which one to choose either one I choose i will be camping. If I choose to go to the north shore what should I expect? In the rivers and creeks up there is there resident rainbows, browns and brooks. Or are the browns and rainbows both anadromous and the only way to catch them would be to fish a certain run. I'm a newbie to the north shore but I'm an avid fly fisher and trout fisherman. So my real question is I'm planning on going at the end of june what would be the coldwater fisheries up there be like? At the end of june what species of trout would be present and available for angling? What types of insect hatches can I prepare for?

Re: North Shore  (N/A)

Expect stream and river conditions to be very low in some areas, so most of the inland trout fishing will be minimal in those areas. There are some really great lakes and rivers to fly fish up in the Finland Isabella area. To many to list here. But put lakes on your list and you will increase your potential a great deal. This area is a real jewel!!!! Adult caddis are hot during that time of year as well some hex activity. Most of the lakes and streams are very cold stream conditions but fish do feed very well in the early mornings and late evenings. Baetis are real numerous also. Expect small flys. PT's and Hare Ears. Lakes would be Adult caddis skidded across with a dropper. Numerous flys to choice from. Give us a call at the shop, Great Lakes Fly Shop. Keep in mind we are in a new location. 4431 East Superior Street. Cheers. John
