Tiger musky? and smallmouth!  (United States)

Was out this past week for some awesome pike and smallmouth bass fishing on the river.  I believe the person I was with caught a tiger musky, can anyone verify?  I've never caught one.  It just looks different then a true musky.  It has the musky body, shape and head, but the stripes just don't look right.  I've caught plenty of musky, but thought this might be some other strain.  I'm leaning towards tiger.

The fish are biting, get out there and catch some.

Re: Tiger musky? and smallmouth!  (United States)

looks like a tiger muskie. the fins should be more round like a northern, and you should count the pours on her lower jaw. i think that is the only certain way to tell. I have been fooled before though catching muskie in their barred phase. very similar and hard to tell. good fish either way. pretty too.
