Northshore Conditions?  (N/A)

Any changes in conditions of the northshore rivers (ie water flows, ice out, chromer activity, ect.).  I am itching for some Steeles.  I know it may still be early but if anyone has any useful information to share that would be awesome.  Forever Fly Fishing,  Chris

Re: Northshore Conditions?  (United States)

Not much happening with the tribs. Knife is running about 51cfs under the ice. The Amity/Lester sondes were removed back in January so I don't have current flow data there.

Shore fishing at the mouths has been slow. No reports of steelhead being caught, but loopers are being taken in small numbers off the Lester, French & here & there at Stony. Most fish being taken under floats on looper bugs, or bottom fishing with float rigs etc. tipped with crawlers & waxies.

No word from Chalstroms Bait other than ice being spotty. They are usually a decent current source of current info & you can always call them at: 218-726-0094.

Cheers

Re: Northshore Conditions?  (N/A)

Hi Chris, been hearing one local hard core fly fisher has been tosing his grand deos spey rod and has been hooking young steelies out in the front of his local favorite river. the weather has been superb!!! He uses a small steamer style fly, mostly tubes. Ken Feenstra stuff. That is all i can say, he of course would not disclose his location, but i am sure when there is open water in front of the mouths and the weather is in the upper 30's you can toss streamers of small nymphs. The steelies and loopers are out there waiting to have sex and eat like pigs. John

Dear John,  Grandiose spey rod????   Seems to me this is a very efficient way to fish the mouths of the rivers...... I cant wait to try a spey on the river mouths.   Have a nice day..... Jim #3
