The Brule River opens up for early season fishing from the Town of Brule to the mouth on Lake Superior. It's always the last Saturday in March which is March 29th this year!
Luckily this year the Fly Fishing Expo in Bloomington, MN isn't at the same time, it's before the opener on March 14-16. So swing on by Great Lakes Fly Company's booth, say hi to John and get your gear and flies for the steelhead opener on the Brule.
As usual I had a beautiful morning on the Brule! Bald eagles, sunshine, and for a little bonus a couple of amazing fish! Eggs were no surprise; the order of the day. So get out there and hook a few.

See you on the river,

Not much to add other than the water is low and clear, still quite a bit of shelf ice around. Ice was out to down below McNeill's. Couple browns, very few steelhead hooked/landed, all under 24".
Cheers
