Fly Tying Classes
We are currently offering basic fly tying classes on Wednesday nights from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from November to February. Each class is comprised of three two-hour sessions, and new classes generally start on the first Wednesday of each month. Classes consist of basic instruction in the use of some commonly used fly tying tools as well as tying many well established patterns. Learn to tie in a friendly, comfortable environment with others looking to explore this fascinating hobby. Tying will be focused on two types of soft hackles, prince nymphs, woolly buggers, royal wulffs and adult caddis. Come and enjoy coffee and dounuts and get a great introduction to a very intriguing pastime that can easily last a lifetime.
- Cost: $35.00 per student. All materials used are included in this cost, and class participants will have a nice assortment of classic flies to bring home when it's all done. Please call early to restrister, seats to go fast!!
Take a Kid Fly Tying Sessions
We will be offering free fly tying clinics for kids on Saturdays beginning in January. This is an open door fly tying session to be enjoyed by the parents as well as kids. PLEASE CALL AHEAD TO RESERVE YOUR SEAT. WE ARE LIMITED TO SIX STUDENTS. There will be basic instructions on tools, vise set-ups, todays tying materials and of course tying some flys. It will happen on every Saturday with no program guide just tie what you like or learn from instructors or parents. We will start around noon and end around 2:00 or 3:00, or when you feel like leaving. This is an opportunity for young fly tyers to meet other fly tyers and just to have a good time and get into the art and sport of fly tying. See you there!!!
Workshops
We also have frequent fly tyers workshops. Local and expert fly tiers give fly tying demonstrations on a particular pattern. The workshops usually happen during the week after 5 pm at the fly shop. Free and open to the public.
